Taken in Jackson Square during a rally staged by Sacred Heart Highschool. The girls were there to demand the installation of Category Five Levees. The teachers informed me that several of the students had lost their homes in the flood. When asked, the teachers and organizers emphasized that the event was a demonstration and a rally, not a protest. When I mentioned that they chose the same day Bush was scheduled to arrive in New Orleans for the first time since the disaster, and explained that the news media the night before had noted that crowds of "angry people" were likely to greet him, they denied being those "angry people". Instead they choose to be mild. Bush did not end up making any public appearances in N.O.
